OPITO 7025 · OIM CONTROLLING EMERGENCIES

OIMCE simulator

Assessed on your own asset type.

OIM Controlling Emergencies is a competence assessment, not a course. The Poseidon Emergency Management Simulator™ recreates the learner's own installation and asset type, so the OIM is assessed against realistic scenarios prepared from the Safety Case and Emergency Response Plan. It is in use by OPITO approved centres delivering OIMCE.

IN USE BY OPITO APPROVED CENTRES

Audited and approved by OPITO as part of Poseidon Training's approval as an OPITO Approved Centre for MEMIR 7228, OIMCE 7025 and CROER 9004.

Training providers using the simulator to deliver OPITO products need their own OPITO centre approval.

Asset types
Production Operations (Fixed) and (Floating), Drilling Operations (Fixed) and (Floating), Mobile/Floating Installations and Normally Unattended Installations (NUI).

How the simulator supports delivery

  1. Your asset, your plans

Configured from your installation's plans, Safety Case and Emergency Response Plan, with overview, deck and equipment views.

  2. The full incident range

Well control, explosion and fire, unignited hydrocarbon or toxic gas release, accommodation fire, helicopter and pipeline incidents, collision or wave damage, loss of stability and foundation failure for jack-ups.

  3. Information and control

Shutdown and blowdown, safety systems, alarms and permits respond as they would on the installation, giving the OIM the information and control the standard requires.

  4. Stability where it matters

Heel, trim, draught and ballast for floating assets, and leg penetration, air gap and leg load for jack-ups.

  5. Assessor tools

The assessor panel with OPITO guidance and OPITO audited assessment tools, time-outs and checklists, and an automated key events log for the debrief and written report.

  6. The learner's account

A structured debrief, including the learner's own account of their decisions, before the assessment decision is made.

The standard allows remote delivery, but the nominated assessor must be present at the assessment location, so OIMCE cannot be remotely assessed.
